Škoda Yeti Dashboard Warning Lights
Detailed below are the dashboard warning lights for the Škoda Yeti. Each symbol is explained, plus what action to take if a warning light comes on based on the manufacturer’s recommendations. The Škoda Yeti dashboard warning lights may vary in location and the dash layout may vary depending on the model year of your vehicle.
1: Engine Revolutions Counter
This part of the Škoda Yeti dashboard display is the engine rev counter, or ‘tachometer and shows the engine speed per minute. The warning lights in this section are as follows:
Park Warning Light
The red ‘P’ symbol illuminates when the parking brake /handbrake is on. An audible sound also warns the driver that the parking brake is applied.
Oil Warning Light
The Škoda Yeti oil warning light may come on in yellow or red. For more information about the different coloured light either constantly on or flashing, see Škoda Yeti Oil Warning Light
Battery Warning Light
The Škoda Yeti battery warning light comes on indicating that the alternator is no longer charging the battery. For more information on the battery warning light and what to do if it comes on, see Škoda Yeti Battery Warning Light
Coolant Warning Light
The Škoda Yeti engine coolant warning light and temperature gauge (4) indicate the engine coolant is too hot. For advice on what to do if the engine coolant warning light comes on, see Škoda Yeti Coolant Warning Light.
Rear Fog Warning Light
When the Škoda Yeti rear fog lights are switched on, this yellow symbol illuminates on the dashboard.
Front Fog Warning Light
When the Škoda Yeti front fog lights are switched on, this green symbol illuminates on the dashboard.
Full Beam Warning Light
This blue warning light comes on when the lights are switched to full beam / main beam.

When full beam headlights have been switched to dipped beam, this warning light illuminates.
Diesel Preheat Warning Light
The diesel preheat, also known as the glow plug warning light comes on when the ignition has been switched on and goes off when the engine is ready to be started. In cold climates, the preheat light may stay illuminated for longer.
Traction Control Off Warning Light
This light comes on when the Škoda Yeti Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system has been deactivated by the driver. The ESC system is best left active, but on occasions such as when stuck in snow, it may prove beneficial to switch it off. when switching off the ESC system, traction control will be disabled.
Windscreen Washer Low Warning Light
This warning light comes on when the windscreen washer level is low. Fill up the washer fluid bottle as soon as possible.
Power Steering Warning Light
This warning light may illuminate in yellow or red and may also flash. There are various faults associated with what colour the warning light is. For further information on the power steering warning symbol, see Škoda Yeti Power Steering Warning Light
Emissions control System Warning Light
This engine warning light illuminates due to an emissions control malfunction. This engine warning light is a generic symbol that’s an indication of many potential faults. Depending on your version of Škoda Yeti, if the engine warning light flashes, it may indicate an engine misfire that can potentially damage the catalytic converter.
Vehicle may enter reduced engine performance mode which is a self-protection system to help prevent damage to the engine. If the warning light flashes, but the vehicle drives as normal, reduce speed and engine load until the light stops flashing. Continued driving is possible with the emissions control warning light, but have engine serviced as soon as possible. It’s only possible to diagnose the fault by use of diagnostic equipment, or ‘code readers’. These tools read fault codes that are generated and stored.
EPC Warning Light
This EPC warning light on the Škoda Yeti stands for ‘Electronic Power Control’ and comes on due to a engine management system fault. Diagnostic equipment is required to read fault codes. This issue can be remedied with a software update. Other issues range from faulty sensors to a new turbo replacement. Vehicle may enter reduced power mode to help preserve engine operation. You may receive the message on the maxidot display ‘Engine Management Failure’.
2: Speedometer
This part of the Škoda Yeti dashboard display is the speedometer and the warning lights in this section are as follows:
Brake Warning Light
The red exclamation mark in a circle is the brake warning light. It indicates that the brake fluid level is low and requires topping up. If driving, stop as soon as possible the check fluid level. If fluid level is normal, it may indicate a brake system failure. In this instance, do not continue driving and contact a Škoda workshop.
ESC Warning Light
The ESC system, or ‘Electronic Stability Control’ helps to keep the vehicle stable on cornering and during acceleration. If the ESC light flashes, it means the system is operating. If it remains constantly lit, it means the ESC system has deactivated. Faults often occur due to and ABS sensor.
ABS Warning Light
By very quickly pulsating the brakes on and off, anti-lock brakes (ABS) prevent the wheels from locking. This then allows the driver to steer while braking harshly. If the ABS light is on, it means the system has malfunction, though normal brakes will work as usual. Often the cause of the ABS light is a wheel speed sensor fault.
Tyre Pressure Warning Light
This warning light comes on when a pressure change has been detected in one or more of the vehicle’s tyres or when there’s a fault. For further information, see Škoda Yeti tyre pressure warning light.
Brake Pads Warning Light
The Škoda Yeti low brake pads warning light comes on when the brake pads are wearing low and require replacement. There’s an estimation of around 1000 miles remaining on brake pads before the pads become completely exhausted, though this depends on driving style and type of pads / quality.
DPF Warning Light
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light, also known as the exhaust warning light illuminates when the system requires cleaning. If the warning light comes on, see Škoda Yeti DPF Warning Light.
Cruise Control Warning Light
This light comes on when the Škoda Yeti’s cruise control system is active and the vehicle speed is regulated by the cruise control system.
