Ford Figo Dashboard Warning Lights

The Ford Figo has been manufactured in India since 2010 and is currently on the second generation (2015). Here we cover the Ford Figo dashboard warning lights which includes both generations and both petrol and diesel models. Dashboard layout and warning lights location may vary depending on the model of Ford Figo.

The following Ford Figo dashboard warning lights alert you to a vehicle condition that may become serious. Certain warning lights illuminate when the vehicle is started to ensure they work and will go out shortly after.

Ford Figo Battery Warning Light
Battery
Warning light name: Ford Figo battery warning light.
Description: The illumination of the battery warning light means the alternator is no longer charging the battery. Any electricity being consumed by the vehicle is being drawn from the battery. Once the battery is exhausted, the engine may stop. Switch off any electrical consumers that are not essential and immediately make your way to a repair workshop.
Ford Figo Brake Warning Light
Brake
Warning light name: Ford Figo brake warning light.
Description: The red brake symbol indicates two functions:
▷ Parking brake is engaged.
▷ A fault with the brake system.
If the parking brake is fully released (check it's not slightly latched on), then there is a fault in the vehicle brake system. It's advised to immediately have your vehicle checked as there may be a significant decrease in brake performance.
Ford Figo ABS Warning Light
ABS
Warning light name: Ford Figo ABS warning light.
Description: This symbol illuminates when a fault with the ABS has been detected. ABS stands for anti-lock braking system and is an additional braking aid that prevents wheels from locking when braking hard. This allows the driver to continue to steer. Normal brakes will continue to work as usual but there is an increased risk of locking wheels. The fault is usually related to wheel speed sensors as these are prone to damage.
Note
The ABS warning light may illuminate along with the brake warning light (above) on some models of Figo.
Ford Figo Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo engine coolant temperature warning light.
Description: If this warning light comes on when driving, it means the coolant temperature is too hot and the engine is overheating. Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and allow the engine to cool. When the engine has cooled down, check the engine coolant level. Add coolant if required. Only continue driving if the warning light goes off.
Note
If the coolant level is already at the specified safe level, it indicates a coolant system failure. This could be due to the water pump malfunctioning. Do not continue driving.
Ford Figo Oil Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo engine oil warning light.
Description: The red oil can symbol indicates two functions:
▷ Low oil level.
▷ Low oil pressure.
If this warning light comes on while driving, pull off the road and switch off the engine as soon as safely possible. Allow a few minutes for the oil to settle into the pan and check the oil level using the dipstick. Add oil as required. Only resume driving if the oil warning light goes off.
Note
If the oil level is already at the acceptable level, it means there's an issue with the oil pressure. Continued driving will result in engine components not being lubricated and severe engine damage occurring. Arrange to have vehicle towed.
Ford Figo Check Engine Malfunction Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo check engine malfunction warning light.
Description: This engine malfunction warning light is often called the 'check engine' warning light or the 'Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). The light may come on steady or flash:
Steady: This indicates a malfunction in the engine. You can continue driving. Reduce speed and avoid high acceleration. This is usually due to an engine sensor fault.
Flashing: This usually indicates that the engine is misfiring. Reduce speed and avoid high acceleration loads. Engine misfire can result in unburnt fuel entering the vehicle emissions system damaging the catalytic converter. If the warning light continues to flash, have engine serviced as soon as possible.


Ford Figo Engine Fault Warning Light
Engine Fault
Warning light name: Ford Figo engine fault warning light.
Description: The cog and exclamation mark symbol is a generic engine fault warning light. It means there is no specific fault. You can continue to drive, but when this warning light comes on, it means that the engine will run at reduced power mode. Reduced power mode is a safety software override system that helps to prevent damage. Have engine serviced as soon as possible.
Ford Figo Powertrain Malfunction Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo powertain malfunction warning light.
Description: The yellow spanner symbol indicates a powertrain malfunction. This is a generic warning light meaning there is no specific fault associated to it. The powertrain consists of anything from the engine, transmission / gearbox etc. You can continue driving but reduce speed and avoid harsh acceleration. If the warning light begins to flash, it's advised that you attempt to restart the car, particularly if the powertrain warning light comes on with the check engine warning light. The engine may enter reduced power mode.
Ford Figo Airbag Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo airbag warning light.
Description: The airbag warning light remaining lit after engine start or coming on while driving means the airbag / SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) has malfunctioned. This is sometimes due to the cables / connections under the front seats becoming disconnected. While the airbag warning light is on, it's unlikely they will be deployed during an accident.

Description: This symbol indicate the the front fog lights (if equipped) and/or the rear fog lights have been switched on.
Ford Figo Glow Plugs Warning Light
Glow Plugs
Warning light name: Ford Figo glow plugs warning light.
Description: This symbols applies only to diesel versions of the Ford Figo. The glow plugs / fuel heater warning light comes on when the ignition is switched to on. You must wait for the light to go off before attempting to start the engine. If the glow plugs light flashes, it indicates a fault. This is usually a symptom of old glow plugs that require replacing. If this doesn't fix the fault, it is other issues in the circuit such as the glow plugs timer for example.

Ford Figo Hill Start Assist Warning Light

Description: If this warning light comes on while driving, it means there's a fault with the hill start assist system. There may be a risk of rolling backwards when attempting to move off on a slope.
Ford Figo Over Speed Warning Light

Description: If your version of Figo is equipped with road sign detection system, the over speed warning light illuminates to warn you that you are exceeding the speed limit for your particular road that you're traveling on.
Ford Figo Power Steering Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo power steering warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when a malfunction has been detected with the power assisted steering. You can continue to safely steer the vehicle, but exert greater force on the steering
wheel. Sometimes this fault is temporary where the motors have overheated due to excessive quick steering movement such as when parking for instance. Restarting the vehicle may clear the fault.

Description: This arrow warning light comes on to indicate the shifting to a higher gear may give better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. It also comes on when the engine is approaching maximum speed.
Ford Figo Stability Control Warning Light

Warning light name: Ford Figo stability control warning light.
Description: The stability control program is a vehicle stability system that helps to steady the vehicle when cornering and/or accelerating. It includes traction control when helps to prevent wheel spin. The light flashes when the system is operating and remains constantly on when a fault is preventing the system from working. The stability control system works along with ABS components and a fault is usually related to an ABS sensor.
Ford Figo Water in Fuel Filter Warning Light
Water in Fuel
Warning light name: Ford Figo water in fuel filter warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when there's too much water in the fuel filter. It requires draining immediately. Find a suitable container to drain off the fluid into.

1. Switch off the vehicle ignition and secure the car.
2. Access the underside of your vehicle.
3. Loosen the drain plug by approximately 1.5 turns.
4. Switch on the vehicle ignition to activate the in-tank pump.
5. Allow the excess water to drain into the container.
6. Switch off the ignition.
7. Tighten up the drain plug until firmly secure.
8. Start the engine.
9. Check for any leaks.
10. Check to ensure the warning light has gone off.

    1. Hi.2011 ford figo 1.4 petrol is showing high temperature light then the fan switch on at high speed for about 2 minutes then the light gone off. Is it normal?

  1. Good day I have a problem with my cluster in 2 years time I change the cluster 3 time. And now it starts again.Al the warning comes on and the car go in limp mode.Then it wound start at all not even a clicking sound.I have to take the battery timenals off to reset.Then it drive for a while again.plz can anybody help me not even Ford in vanderbijl can fix it

    1. Hi,
      If it’s the engine warning light that’s on, you’ll need diagnostics. Little point in guessing as there’s so many possibilities of what the problem could be. When the engine warning light illuminates, the onboard diagnostics system generates fault codes. A diagnostic fault code reader is then used to read the codes to help locate the fault.
