Fiat Doblò Dashboard Warning Lights
These are the dashboard warning lights for the Fiat Doblò. The warning lights apply to light cargo vans and passenger carriers of the Doblò model. Depending on your location, the van is also know as the Fiat Panorama.
The dashboard instrument cluster layout and warning lights location may vary depending on the model version. Certain warning lights illuminate with the ignition being switched on as either a system check or a bulb check. Provided the lights go out, this is normal. Depending on your version of Fiat Doblò, a warning light may illuminate along with a dedicated message.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò start stop failure warning light.
Description: This amber warning light illuminates when a fault with the automatic engine start stop system has been detected. Depending on your version of Fiat Doblò, the amber triangle general fault warning light may illuminate instead. This fault requires analysis from a qualified Fiat workshop.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò cruise control warning light.
Description: This warning light illuminates on the dash when the cruise control feature has been activated.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò brake pad wear warning light.
Description: This amber warning light indicates that the brake pads are worn and require replacement. From when the brake pad wear warning light comes on, there are approximately 1000 miles remaining before the issue becomes hazardous, though this does vary based on your driving.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò hill holder warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when the hill holder system has a fault. It automatically comes on when stationary uphill or downhill at a gradient of more than 5%. Hill holder is integral to the Electronic Stability Control system (ESC) and it share components such as wheel speed sensors. On certain models of Fiat Doblò, the ESC warning light illuminates if there’s a fault with the hill holder system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò DPF warning light.
Description: DPF stands for ‘diesel particulate filter’ and is an environmental feature that helps to trap harmful particles, or soot. When the filter becomes full, or ‘saturated’, it requires regeneration. This is often performed automatically without driver knowledge, however if the DPF warning light comes on, the driver must assist with the cleaning process. To do this:
- Drive at a speed of at least 38 mph (60 km/h).
- Keep the engine revs above 2000 rpm.
- Continue driving until the light goes off (usually takes approximately 15 minutes).
- Where possible, try to avoid slowing down or stopping until the process is complete.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò ASR OFF warning light.
Description: Fiat Doblò ASR stands for ‘Anti-Slip Regulation’ and is a form of traction control. ASR is active by default on each ignition cycle and is usually beneficial to keep it switched on at all times. ASR can be switched off by pressing the ASR OFF button and may prove beneficial if your vehicle is stuck in snow or mud.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò doors open warning light.
Description: The warning light illuminates in red when a door is not properly closed. Depending on your version of Doblò, the warning light also illuminates when the swing doors/tailgate are not properly shut. A warning chime will sound when you begin to move the vehicle.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò front fog warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when the front fog lights are activated.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò ESC warning light.
Description: ESC stands for ‘Electronic Stability Cotnrol’ and is made up of vehicle stability systems include ASR and hill holder (see above), MSR system (engine drive regulation) and the HBA system, which helps to increase braking pressure during emergency braking. The ESC warning light may illuminate for two possible reasons:
▷ Illuminates constantly: ESC has a fault and is not functioning. Being as ESC shares ABS components such as wheel speed sensors, the fault might be related.
▷ Flashing: The ESC light flashing means the system is operating due to the vehicle being towards the end of its stability limit.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò brake warning light.
Description: The red exclamation mark in a circle is the brake warning light. The following conditions or faults apply:
▷ Brake warning light: The parking brake is not fully released.
▷ Brake warning light: If the parking brake is properly released, it may indicate low brake fluid level.
▷ Brake warning light: If the parking brake is properly released and the brake fluid level is sufficient, it indicates that the brake booster pressure may be low. The brake servo is a brake component that provides vacuum, helping the driver by decreasing braking effort.
▷ Brake + ABS + ESC: These three warning lights illuminating simultaneously indicate and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) failure. EBD distributes varied amounts of brake force on individual wheels to provide maximum stopping ability. In the event of EBD failure, there’s a possibility that the rear wheels may suddenly lock.
Brake Faults
The brake warning light may indicate a serious issue where your vehicle may be unable to stop, resulting in a accident. Always have your vehicle checked by a qualified Fiat workshop immediately.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò ABS warning light.
Description: Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) are a safety braking feature that prevent wheels from locking, which allows the driver to continue to steer. The ABS warning light remains illuminated after engine start when the system has a fault. The braking system maintains its efficiency but without the advantage of the ABS system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò start stop warning light.
Description: This symbol lights up in the dashboard display when the engine has been automatically stopped by the start stop system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò headlight alignment position warning light.
Description: This warning light indicates what position the dipped headlight are current set to. The headlight alignment adjustment settings are as follows:
- Position 0: One or two people in the front seats.
- Position 1: Five people.
- Position 2: Five people + load in the luggage compartment.
- Position 3: Driver + maximum permitted load stowed in the luggage compartment.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò gear shift indicator light.
Description: Gear shift indication for vehicles with a manual transmission. The gear shift indicator suggests gear changes to the driver to allow for better fuel consumption.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò rear fog warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when the rear fog lights are switched on.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò check engine warning light.
Description: The check engine warning light may illuminate constantly or flash and may have a text warning message:
▷ Illuminates constantly: The check engine warning light illuminates constantly indicates a malfunction in the supply/ignition system that could cause excessive exhaust emissions, a possible loss of performance, poor driveability and high fuel consumption. The vehicle can still be driven. Reduce speed and avoid excessive speed or acceleration. Prolonged use in this condition may damage the engine.
▷ Flashing: For petrol verisons only, the flashing check engine light usually means a misfiring engine that can result in catalytic converter damage. Immediately reduce speed and avoid excessive speed or high engine revs. When the check engine warning light comes on, it’s required that diagnostic equipment is hooked up to read fault codes.
▷ Diesel versions: The check engine light coming on indicates Urea Injection System Failure. This may indicate that the incorrect fluid is being used or if average UREA consumption over 50% is detected. Have vehicle serviced by a Fiat workshop as soon as possible. If a certain threshold is passed, it may not be possible to start the engine.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò security warning light.
Description: The car and lock symbol is the Fiat security code protection and if the warning light stays on permanently, it indicates a fault with the Fiat Code system. In this instance, try another key.If the warning light flashes with the engine running, it means that the vehicle is not protected by the engine immobiliser device. Contact a Fiat dealership to have all the keys stored in the memory. If the warning light comes on steady while driving, it indicates a self-diagnostic test which has resulted due to a drop in battery voltage.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò tyre pressure warning light.
Description: This warning light stays on or flashes:
▷ Stays on: This means that one or more tyre pressures are lower than the stored values. Restore pressures or change wheel.
▷ Flashes: Tyre pressures are monitored by the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). If the warning light flashes for around 75 seconds then stays on, it indicates a fault with the TPMS.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò airbag warning light.
Description: If the airbag warning light remains on after the engine has started, it indicates a fault with the airbag system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò water in diesel filter warning light.
Description: Water can enter the fuel tank due to the fuel cap not being properly secured, contamination at the fuel station, condensation of atmospheric moisture etc. Locate drain on the bottom of filter housing to drain out the water from the filter. Leaving the vehicle with low fuel levels in the tank over a cold night subjects it to more water in the fuel tank.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò glow plugs warning light.
Description: With the ignition switched to MAR, the glow plugs warning light illuminates and goes off when the engine is ready to start. During colder ambient temperatures, the glow plugs warning light will stay on for longer.
Flashing glow plugs light
If the glow plugs warning light flashes, it indicates a fault with the preheating system.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò seat belt warning light.
Description: The red seat belt warning light illuminates until the driver or passenger has secured their seat belt. A buzzer will sound when the vehicle is in motion.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò low engine oil level warning light.
Description: This warning light appears on the dashboard display when the engine oil level falls below the minimum recommended value. Top up with engine oil as soon as possible.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò low engine oil pressure warning light.
Description: This warning light switches on constantly together with a warning message in the dash display when the system detects that the engine oil pressure is insufficient. Low engine oil pressure can result in significant engine damage. Safely pull off the road and immediately switch off the engine. Check oil level and top up if necessary. Only continue your journey if the oil pressure light goes off.
Diesel MultiJet versions with DPF
A flashing oil pressure light means the system detects that the engine oil has deteriorated. This doesn’t indicate a fault, but requires you to have the engine oil changed. Failure to change the oil will result in reduced engine power mode being implemented. Initially to 3000 rpm, then to 1500 rpm. Continuously taking short trips or interruption of the DPF regeneration causes oil deterioration.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò battery warning light.
Description: The red battery warning light stays on or comes on while driving indicating a charging fault. Possible causes are:
- Alternator
- Alternator / drive belt
- Battery
- Battery connections / wiring. If driving, immediately switch off any electrical systems that are not required. Once the battery is drained of charge, the engine may switch off.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò general fault warning light.
Description: The triangle containing an exclamation mark is the general fault / failure warning light. This generic warning light may come on along with another warning light and/or a warning message. They include:
- Engine oil pressure sensor failure
- Speed limit set warning
- External lights failure
- Fuel cut-off system failure
- Parking sensor failure
- Start Stop system failure
- Airbag fault issues
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò low fuel warning light.
Description: This light comes on when the remaining fuel level is at approximately 9 litres.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò main beam warning light.
Description: This blue warning light warns that main beam headlights are active.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò dipped beam warning light.
Description: This green warning light warns that dipped beam headlights are active.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò directional indicators / hazard warning light.
Description: These arrow symbols flash when a direction indicator is applied or the hazard warning lights.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò parking sensor failure warning light.
Description: The warning light turns on when failure is detected in the parking sensors. On certain versions of the Fiat Doblò, the general fault warning light turns on instead.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò engine temperature warning light.
Description: This warning light comes on when the engine coolant temperature is too high. In normal driving conditions, stop the vehicle, switch off the engine and check that the water level in the reservoir is not below the MIN mark. If the reservoir is low, wait several minutes for the coolant to cool before opening cap. Top up reservoir slowly to the MAX mark and only continue driving if the warning light goes off. Look for signs of a leak.
Warning light name: Fiat Doblò transmission fault warning light.
Description: This red cog containing an exclamation mark symbol is a transmission fault relating to the Fiat Comfort-Matic ‘Dualogic’ gearbox. The warning light may come on or flash along with a warning message. This may be due to the transmission overheating due to demanding use, or a fault. Other issues can relate to gearbox fluid (selespeed fluid) level being low.
Ik heb een Fiat Doblo diesel onlangs een nieuwe katalysator en nu vaker reinigen en langer dan met vorige .Hoort dat zo ,of iets anders .Ik ben er niet blij mee .Achterliggende auto s knipperen met lampen als waarschuwing .Nu brand lampje nr 5 .Nog nooit gezien .Een zuinige en goede Fiat om mee te rijden.

If you mainly do only short trips of just a few miles around town, this can cause problems for the DPF, but if that’s not the case, then I’d say you have an issue – particularly as the DPF light is on.
