Symbol | Warning Light Description / Action |
---|---|
Name: Citroën Dispatch STOP warning light. Description: The red STOP warning light illuminates on the dashboard along with other warning lights and/or messages. The warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Engine fault ▷ Brakes fault ▷ Power steering fault ▷ Automatic gearbox fault ▷ Electrical fault ▷ Brake fluid level ▷ Engine oil pressure ▷ Coolant temperature ▷ Electronic brake force distribution What to do: The stop warning light is an indication of a serious fault that may result in damage to the vehicle and/or may represent a risk to vehicle occupant safety. If the stop warning light comes on, pull over as soon as possible and stop the engine. Contact a Citroën workshop for assistance. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch Oil Pressure warning light. Description: The low oil pressure warning light comes on for two possible reasons: ▷ Low oil pressure ▷ The oil level is low What to do: 1. Stop the vehicle as quickly but as safely as possible and switch off the engine. 2. Allow the engine to rest for a few minutes to allow the oil to drain into the engine sump. 3. Check the engine oil level using the dipstick. Add oil if required. 4. If engine oil was added, check to see if the warning light has now gone out. Warning If you did not add oil or the warning light remains on, do not continue driving. There is a fault with the lubrication system and significant damage will occur to the engine. Contact a Citroën workshop for assistance. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch brake fluid warning light. Description: The red exclamation mark in a circle comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Parking brake is applied ▷ Brake fluid level is low What to do: 1. First check that the parking brake is properly released. 2. Check the brake fluid reservoir tanks for fluid levels. As brake pads wear down, fluid levels will also drop over time. Low brake fluid level is also and indicator for low brake pads. If brake fluid requires frequent topping up, there may be a leak in the system. When topping up with brake fluid, clean the cap and the area around the cap to avoid particles dropping in producing contamination before opening. Use DOT 4 brake fluid. 3. If the brake warning light still remains on, have it checked immediately as there may be a fault with the brake system. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch ABS warning light. Description: The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is an extension of the normal brakes that prevents wheels from locking. The benefit of this is to allow the driver to steer where locked wheels would otherwise prevent this. It's important to note that normal brakes will continue to function with an ABS failure. Common reasons for ABS failure are: • Low brake fluid • Faulty ABS control unit • Fault ABS/speed sensor or wiring problem • Failed or failing pump • Solenoid malfunction You can continue to drive with an ABS malfunction, though be cautious of harsh braking as the wheels may lock. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch EBFD warning light. Description: Both the brake warning light and ABS warning light coming on together means there's a fault with the Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD). This system uses ABS to vary the amount of brake force on individual wheels. You may notice that the brakes do not perform as expected. This fault also means the ABS system is not functional. Due to the potential of the braking system becoming unreliable, it is advisable that you do not continue driving and contact a Citroën workshop. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch engine coolant temperature warning light. Description: Depending on your version of Citroën Dispatch, the red temperature symbol will appear or the temperature gauge needle will reach the red zone and display a red LED. This means the engine coolant temperature is too high and the engine is overheating. What to do: 1. Stop as soon as possible and switch off the engine. 2. Allow 10 minutes or so for the engine to cool and check the engine coolant level. If you do not have access to engine coolant, tap water is sufficient in an emergency situation. Flashing temperature light The engine coolant temperature warning light will flash informing you that the coolant level is too low. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch service warning triangle light. Description: The yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark is a generic fault warning light in which there is no specific warning light. The 'service' vehicle warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ If the triangle lights up temporarily, it means the vehicle has minor faults. ▷ If the triangle lights up permanently, it means the vehicle has major faults. What to do: Consult the trip computer / warning log by selecting it via the button on the left-control stalk. This applies only to the Citroën Dispatch second generation. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch service warning spanner light. Description: This yellow spanner / wrench / service warning light is a generic fault light in which there is no dedicated warning symbol. On versions of the Citroën Jumpy, the spanner symbol is replaced with a service symbol: The service / spanner vehicle warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ If the service / spanner lights up temporarily, it means the vehicle has minor faults. ▷ If the service / spanner lights up permanently, it means the vehicle has major faults. What to do: A message will be displayed in the instrument panel providing further information on the fault. Certain faults can be dealt with yourself such as cleaning the diesel particulate filter (see below). Note The yellow service fault warning light along with a flashing engine service spanner light indicates that the servicing interval has been exceeded. This applies only to vehicles with BlueHDi diesel engines. The yellow spanner generic fault spanner applies only to the Citroën Dispatch third generation. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch battery warning light. Description: The presence of the battery warning light remaining lit on the Citroën Dispatch means there's a fault with the charging system. Things to check are: ▷ Check the battery terminals are not loose or dirty ▷ Check the alternator belt is not missing or loose ▷ Have the battery charge tested ▷ Have the alternator output charge tested ▷ Faulty charge circuit ▷ Faulty ignition Flashing battery light The battery light flashes due to economy mode. After the engine has been switched off with the key still in the ignition, certain systems such as the windscreen wipers, electric windows, audio equipment etc can only be used for a period of up to 30 minutes. This is to prevent battery discharge. Once the 30 minutes are finished, these systems are put into standby and the battery warning light flashes along with a message. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch check engine warning light. Description: The check engine warning light, also called the malfunction indicator light (MIL) is Citroën's Engine Self-Diagnosis System. It comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Fixed: Emissions control system has a fault. You can usually carry on driving. May notice reduced engine power and an increase in fuel consumption. Have engine check as soon as possible. ▷ Flashing: Engine management system has a fault. May notice rough sounding engine indicating misfire. Possible damage to the catalytic converter may arise due to fuel entering the system and causing extremely high temperatures. Immediately reduce speed until the light goes out. Have vehicle checked immediately. ▷ + Indication of a minor engine fault. ▷ + Indication of a major engine fault. Stop immediately and contact a Citroën workshop. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch AdBlue warning light. Description: The AdBlue warning light illuminates along with an audible signal and a message informing the driver indicating the remaining driving range before AdBlue tank is empty. The AdBlue warning light will begin flashing as the driving range becomes low. Depending on your version of Citroën Dispatch, the service warning light illuminates also. When the AdBlue tank is exhausted, you must top up with at least 5 litres of AdBlue to avoid engine starting being prevented. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch Collision Risk Alert / Active Safety Brake warning light. Description: These safety system help to prevent a collision by warning the driver initially by a message, followed by a message and an audible alert and finally if the driver fails to take action, the emergency braking system is triggered. The warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Flashing means that the system is operating and brakes the vehicle briefly to reduce speed. ▷ Fixed light along with audible warning indicates a fault in the system. This may be due to the view of the camera located at the top-centre of the window being obscured by dirt, snow etc. If your vehicle has been parked under direct hot sunlight, the camera may become temporarily overheated. Cooling the car will enable the camera to resume operation. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch Dynamic Stability Control warning light. Description: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) helps to maintain vehicle stability while cornering and maintains tyre traction while accelerating (ASR). The warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Flashing means the system is actively operational and stabilising the vehicle. ▷ Fixed means there's a fault with the system. Due to the DSC and ASR systems sharing ABS sensors, a fault will often relate to the ABS system. ESC and DSC system may also flag up a fault if the tyres are under-inflated. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch tyre pressure warning light. Description: The tyre pressure warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Warning light stays on fixed along with an audible alert means that one or more tyres are under-inflated. Check or change the affected tyre. When coming to a stop, avoid sharp steering or harsh braking. ▷ Warning lights + service light both illuminate when a fault has been detected with the system. Warning light will flash for around 1 minute then remain on. In this situation, the tyre pressures are no longer monitored. This could be due to a faulty or damaged sensor in a wheel, or a wheel (such as the spare) has been fitted without a sensor. Note After every tyre pressure check or change of tyre, the pressure system must be reset or 'reinitialised'. See Citroën Dispatch tyre pressure reset. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch airbag warning light. Description: The airbag warning light will stay on fixed indicating a fault with one of the airbags or the seat belt pretensioner systems. This is sometimes due to cables or connections under the seat being knocked and dislodged. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch water in diesel filter warning light. Description: This warning light comes on due to water being in the diesel filter. The filter requires draining. There is a risk of damage to the injection system if left untreated. An alternative warning light illuminates on certain versions of the Citroën Dispatch. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch low fuel warning light. Description: The low fuel warning light comes on along with an audible alarm to indicate that there's only 8 litres of fuel remaining in the tank. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch diesel particulate filter (DPF) warning light. Description: The DPF warning light comes on for the following reasons: ▷ Illuminates with audible alarm with a message indicating that the diesel particulate filter requires cleaning due to a blockage. In this instance, regenerate the filter by driving at a speed of at least 37 mph (60 km/h) until the warning light goes off. This is best performed on a road that doesn't require slowing down or stopping. ▷ Illuminates with audible alarm with a message that particulate filter additive is required due to the level being too low. This is usually due at around the 80,000 mile mark. You can fill the tank yourself but a diagnostic tool may be required to reset the warning light. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch power steering warning light. Description: The power steering warning light remains on fixed when there's a fault with the system. You may notice that the steering wheel is more difficult to turn at slower speeds. Have system serviced as soon as possible. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch press brake pedal warning light. Description: This warning light will flash for versions of the Citroën Dispatch that have an electronic gearbox when the driver is holding the vehicle on a slope using the accelerator only. The warning light flashes due to the clutch potentially overheating. Hold the vehicle using the brake pedal. |
Name: Citroën Dispatch stop start warning light. Description: When coming to a stop such at traffic lights for example, the engine stop start light illuminates indicating that the engine has been placed on standby. The warning light flashes when automatic engine stop start is unavailable. There are many reasons why the stop start system is unavailable, to find out more, see Citroën Dispatch stop start not working. |

My car one dashboard light is on and engine fault which I don’t understand please help
Hello Mustapha,
Car one light? Is that meant to say oil light?
In terms of the engine fault light, there are many potential faults that can cause the engine light to come on. The only way around this is to have diagnostic equipment hooked up to your Citroen. When the engine light comes on, a fault code is usually generated and stored. The diagnostic equipment reads the fault codes and explains what the code means, allowing the engineer to locate the problem.
In the box where the milometer is a small orange triangle lights up when I accelerate, any thoughts please
Hi Grenville,
Does the triangle contain an exclamation mark? If so, it’s a fault warning light informing you that the van requires a service. In general, being as the light comes on temporarily, it means it’s a minor fault. Are you noticing any other issues while accelerating? Misfire sound, excessive smoke etc? First thing to do is to check engine oil and fluids and to consult the trip computer / left stalk to see if there’s any information in there. Failing that, it’ll have to be a diagnostic tool to scan for fault codes.
It means you need to change to higher gear

Hi Paul
Is it this symbol:
If it is, it’s to do with coolant levels being at the minimum and require topping up.
